Operation Details
'Cold Comfort' was the British initial designation of the interdiction plan, which matured as 'Zombie', as the first step of an undertaking to block the Brenner Pass through the western part of the Alps and thereby slow if not actually halt the flow of supplies from Austria to the German forces in northern Italy (17 February/late March 1945).
,The undertaking was to to be launched by a 12-man party of the 2nd Special Air Service parachuted into German-occupied Italy to the north of Verona, and a 14-man reinforcement party was to be parachuted into the operational area three days later.
