Operation Details

Lancing

'Lancing' was a British unrealised special forces plan for the simultaneous launch of two series of attacks to destroy German radar installations and so open a gap in the line of radar coverage used by the Germans to detect incoming bombing raids (summer 1942).

,

The object of this exercise, to have been undertaken in the 'Busybody', 'Dearborn', 'Earthquake', 'Roughshod' and 'Turnscrew' sub-operations between Boulogne and Le Touquet on the north coast of German-occupied France, was to provide undetected access to the European mainland for a sizeable bomber force.
